Week 4, Teaching LA, EDUC 337
It seems pretty official from this week's class that either Blackboard Collaborate or my computer does not like me, maybe both, on a very personal level...
We did a group project at the end of class this week, in which my computer/program froze throughout much of unfortunately, but of which I really enjoyed the reading involved in! My group, group 5, was assigned to read and review/create a handout for: https://www.cultofpedagogy.com/holistic-analytic-single-point-rubrics/ , which covered three kinds of rubrics - holistic, analytical, and single-point rubrics by Jennifer Gonzales.
The basic run down was :

The basic run down was :
1)
Holistic Rubric – general, 3-5 categories, not a lot of feedback for students, easy
to teach, easy to make… best with no time/need for feedback.
2)
Analytical rubric – breaks down into parts or
categories /itemized, good for student feedback*, takes more time to make,
thorough, but may be overwhelming too.
3)
Single-point rubric – describes only one point/
category of proficiency, so it’s like
a simple analytical rubric, with blank columns on either side of the category
for notes on how to improve or how they did well or exceeded the requirement(s), or categories with criteria, room for scores, and comments. This type of rubric can be easier for students to read and understand, but can also take more writing on the teacher's part.
I look forward to going back over the recording for class, and getting the pieces I missed the first time around due to connect problems and listening closely to all of the other group's hand-out ideas!
